Start with product fit
A memorable unboxing experience begins with a package that fits. Excess space can make an order feel careless and may require unnecessary void fill.
- Measure the product at its widest points
- Allow only the clearance needed for loading and protection
- Test the packed product, not only the empty box
Design the opening sequence
Use the lid, interior print, tissue, or insert in a deliberate order. Each layer should help the customer understand what to open next without slowing them down.
Use inserts for protection and presentation
Paperboard or corrugated inserts can stabilize products while presenting them consistently. Choose insert geometry around weight, fragility, and the number of components.
Make disposal instructions clear
If components separate for recycling or reuse, explain that in plain language. Avoid sustainability claims that cannot be supported for the complete package.
Prototype before production
Test fit, opening force, transit protection, color, and assembly with a sample. A good prototype catches issues that a flat dieline cannot show.
